Colosseum Founder Coach Andre Leenheer, 57, started his Muay Thai training at the young age of 12. Training in an era of Muay Thai legends, old school boxing gyms, and often fatal bouts – the Coach has over four decades of experience, and runs the top Muay Thai training facility, and one of the best gyms, in the country.

His journey has been neither easy nor predictable; in 2000 Coach Andre took the ultimate leap of faith. He left his family’s cheese-making business in Holland, after running it for over 25 years, and moved to Kenya to pursue his passion for fitness, martial arts and healthy living. The Colosseum Gym had its humble origins in a small room in Adams Arcade. Since then, the gym has grown into a thriving business; Colosseum and Andre have become synonymous with high-quality, transformative training.

Colosseum is more than a gym; it is a space to realize your best self. Coach Andre and the other highly accomplished coaches at Colosseum don't just help you reach your body goals, they also motivate, advise and build the confidence of their clients.

Train with professional fighters for fitness or to fight. Our training is open to people at all skill levels. The training increases strength, flexibility, endurance and mental focus. We also focus on sparring providing you the opportunity to react under pressure.

ZUMBA

Dance, dance, dance! And get healthy while you do it!

Zumba has been responsible for getting many into fitness, and those who thought that fitness was boring always bring a smile to Zumba classes. The fact that it requires no particular skill apart from the enjoyment of music, makes it accessible to both young and old.

Njahira Gathara Kipowski trained both in Kenya and Europe and licensed in Zumba Basic, Zumba Step, Zumba Sentao and Zumba in the Circuit. Njahira became a believer in Zumba once she realized how much it touched the lives of those who instructed and practiced it.

Pole Dancing, originally associated with strip clubs, has been redefined in recent years and has come to represent a legitimate form of exercise. Women worldwide are raving about the benefits of Pole Dance Fitness. Pole Dance Fitness combines cardio, resistance training, dance, and aerobics while performing spins, twirls, transitions, combinations and moves with a vertical pole.

A Thai martial art, known as the ‘art of eight limbs’, Muay Thai uses the knees and elbows as well as kicks and punches. Almost any part of the body is considered a fair target and any part of the body, except the head, may be used to strike an opponent. It is considered by many to be the ultimate in hand-to-hand fighting.

On a physical level, regular Muay Thai training will give you a well-proportioned physique, build stamina and get you in excellent shape. You will develop an athlete’s body composition. You will gain greater strength and agility, and will benefit from an immune system boost. On a mental level, the study of Muay Thai will improve your self-confidence, discipline and self-awareness.

Our training is open to people at all skill levels.

We teach the fundamentals of striking, elbows, knee drills, sweeps and technical strikes. We make use of Thai pads for the drills. Conditioning drills will ensure that both your mind and body are raised to elite levels. Several students have gone on to have professional careers as fighters.
